Met Eireann Report 50mm Rainfall in a three hour period in Cork City and surrounding areas during early hours of Thursday 28th June 2012.
Extensive damage has been sustained to the Douglas Village area, Glanmire, Blackpool and outlining towns such as Clonakilty.
In terms of insurance cover it is likely that these will fall under the “rainstorm” or storm contingency as opposed to flooding which is bursting or overflowing of river banks. If storm drains were unable to take the volume of water generated then generally these claims will be approached as storm.
This is important to note as some Insurers might say that “flood” cover is excluded.
As of 8.30a.m. Thursday 28th June 2012, Property Assess had received a significant number of instructions from property owners.
